Buitrago Arquitectura is a architecture Studio located in Costa Rica, lead by Daniel Buitrago , a Costa Rican architect whose career has focused on integrating tropical architecture and innovation into his projects. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Costa Rica (UCR) in 2019, specializing in the Tropical Architecture Workshop.
He participated in the "Architecture: Climate Change" Congress in Pamplona in 2016. In 2019, he was part of the graduation seminar titled "Adaptation of Architecture to Climate Change: Data Projection and Energy Simulation of Two Scenarios for Public Buildings in Costa Rica," which was highly acclaimed in academic circles. This led to him being a speaker at the 4th International Congress on Technological Innovation in Building (CITE) in 2019 in Madrid, Spain. That same year, he was invited to present his research to students of the Master’s Program in Technological Innovation in Building (MITE) at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
Additionally, his research was published in the journal DYNA, a scientific journal on multidisciplinary engineering indexed in the Science Citation Index with an impact factor in JCR. (2024). DYNA, 96(4), 347-350. https://revista-dyna.com/index.php/DYNA/article/view/366.
In 2020, he founded his own studio, BUITRAGO Arquitectura, where he continues to develop projects focused on sustainability and architectural innovation.
We aim to build spaces that respond accordingly to the context and to the weather, mixing tropical and modern architecture.
